WITI Boston Recap - MA Conference for Women – Dec. 6, Boston

WITI Boston exhibited at the largest women's conference in North America (over 6,000 attendees) and had a well decorated and professional tabletop exhibit. We spoke to 100+ ladies of which 65 of them gave us their business cards and entered our raffle to win a one-year membership. Congratulations to Saundra Greene who won a free 2013 WITI membership, a $250 value.

We met with several other organizations to explore partnerships including the Science Club for Girls and WEST. But most of all we spread the WITI message to build, inspire, and empower women of all ages and from all industries to excel in their careers, be "connectors" and never be left standing along.

One of our team members, Marina Gil-Santamaria, a new member (in the photo on the left), created a top 10 reasons to join WITI flyer and we had a social media promotion with QR codes linking directly to our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages.

The speakers at this event were outstanding including the likes of Arianna Huffington, the president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group who spoke about how we as women need to redefine success - to think about it as a jungle gym not as a ladder, ever changing, fun and challenging. She believes strongly in reducing stress and making time to rest and sleep. And she spoke about the known instincts of the human race; to survive, obtain power, have sex but in true Arianna fashion added a 4th - to find meaning in life, an instinct we believe women do possess.

Another speaker that was impressive was Carole Simpson, a former ABC News anchorwoman, who faced many obstacles in the news business back in the 70s and learned how to take a negative response or a "no, you as a women can't do that" and turn it into a vitamin pill to re-channel one's anger into energy.

Again, I want to thank my team, who selflessly gave of themselves to staff our table and continually put forth the WITI message all day, meeting and greeting the attendees; Alison Duncanson, Mary Ellen Sullivan, Nirva Fereshetian, Kelly Burton, Marina Gil-Santamaria and Tracy Brodd. And, I want also acknowledge the support we received from "the boys at WITI corporate" to be part of this great conference; David Leighton, Rick Budd, Richard Hogge, Henry Fan.

We all had a great day and do look forward to next year.
